Woman Undergoes Multiple surgeries, Spends $150,000+ in pursuit of Record-Breaking Buttocks
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – A South Korean woman has reportedly spent over 200 million won (approximately $150,000 USD) on numerous Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedures in a relentless quest for what she describes as “the biggest butt in the world.” the case highlights the extreme lengths some individuals will go to achieve a desired physique, despite the well-documented and possibly fatal risks associated with the surgery. Her buttocks now weigh 45 kilograms (approximately 99 pounds).
The pursuit of dramatically enhanced curves has fueled a surge in BBL popularity globally, but also a corresponding rise in complications and deaths. Recognized as one of the most dangerous cosmetic surgeries worldwide, BBL carries a mortality rate of roughly 1 in 4,000 cases, according to the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). The procedure involves liposuction to remove fat from areas like the abdomen, waist, and thighs, then injecting that fat into the buttocks to create a fuller shape.
However, the surgery’s inherent dangers stem from the proximity of the inferior vena cava – a major vein directly connected to the heart – to the injection site. If injected fat enters the bloodstream,it can travel to the heart or lungs, causing a potentially fatal fat embolism. Other severe complications include infection, skin necrosis, hemorrhagic shock, excessive inflammation, cellulitis, filler migration, and the formation of painful nodules. Excessive bleeding is also a notable risk due to the multiple skin incisions required.
Medical professionals strongly advise thorough consultation with experienced specialists before considering BBL surgery. Patients should meticulously investigate the surgical methods employed, the availability of specialized equipment, the clinic’s follow-up management system, and a comprehensive understanding of potential side effects. The case serves as a stark warning about the extreme risks associated with pursuing cosmetic ideals, even at a considerable financial and personal cost.
