Business Insider: Bloomsbury schedules 'A Court of Splintered Harmony' for Oct 27

Business Insider: Bloomsbury schedules ‘A Court of Splintered Harmony’ for Oct 27

October 7, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

Bloomsbury is eagerly awaiting the release of the sixth installment of Sarah J. Maas‘ “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series, titled “A Court of Splintered Harmony,” on October 27, 2026, according to a report by businessinsider.com. The upcoming release arrives directly on the heels of a 10% sales decline for the publisher during the 2025-2026 fiscal year, a drop driven entirely by the absence of a new title from the author during that period, Publishers Weekly reported.

The Nontraditional Multi-Volume Release Structure

Maas finalized the massive manuscript while writing in Montana during the summer of 2025. During a March 2026 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast hosted by Alex Cooper, the author revealed that individual story sections ballooned past anticipated lengths, with part one alone reaching 400 pages.

Instead of condensing the work into a single traditional spine, Maas divided the overarching narrative into four distinct parts. The first part hits retail shelves as “A Court of Splintered Harmony” on October 27, 2026, clocking in at 352 pages and featuring three bonus chapters previously scattered across specific editions. Parts two and three will follow closely behind as “A Court of Forgotten Melody” on January 12, 2027. Maas told Cooper that the volumes are engineered to be consumed as one massive story rather than a conventional trilogy with neat resolutions.

Night Court Faces Threats from Koschei the Deathless

Promotional material released by Bloomsbury in August 2026 confirmed that the narrative kicks off with the Night Court confronting fresh threats from Koschei the Deathless and opportunistic allies aiming to seize newly freed human lands. Internal friction within the Night Court, fueled by recent betrayals and revealed truths, complicates their defense.

Recent social media teasers from the publisher establish that Lucien Vanserra will anchor at least a portion of the perspective. Lucien enters the conflict serving as an emissary to the human lands, burdened by an unaccepted mating bond with Elain Archeron and lingering ties to Vassa and Jurian.

Bloomsbury Schedules Two New Books for Early 2027

Bloomsbury relies heavily on the velocity of Maas’ catalog to stabilize revenues following the 2025-2026 slump. The aggressive publishing schedule places two distinct books into active retail channels within an eleven-week window heading into early 2027. “A Court of Splintered Harmony” releases on October 27, 2026, followed by “A Court of Forgotten Melody” on January 12, 2027, with the final fourth part remaining un-dated by the publisher.
