BTS’s Jimin Confirmed to Have Previously Dated Actor song Da-eun, Agency Says
SEOUL – HYBE’s BigHit music confirmed Sunday that BTS member Jimin and actor Song Da-eun were in a relationship ”manny years ago,” marking the first time the entertainment group has publicly acknowledged a romantic involvement of any of its seven members. The confirmation follows recent online speculation fueled by a video posted by Song Da-eun appearing to show Jimin.
The agency’s statement addresses escalating rumors and clarifies that while Jimin and Song Da-eun did share a past relationship based on mutual affection, they are no longer together. This disclosure represents a shift in HYBE’s traditionally private stance regarding the personal lives of its artists, prompted by what the agency described as “groundless rumors and reports.” The acknowledgment is notable for the devoted BTS fanbase, known as ARMY, and sets a new precedent for how the agency might address future relationship speculation.
According to BigHit Music’s press release, the relationship occurred some time before jimin began his mandatory military service in December 2023. News outlet Money today reported the relationship was brief, coinciding with the start of Jimin’s service.
“We did not issue a statement out of respect for Jimin’s private life,” the agency stated. “However, we have come to release our position due to the groundless rumors and reports that have been made surrounding our artists’ private lives. We thus release only the minimum facts.”
Prior to this proclamation, HYBE had consistently refrained from commenting on relationship rumors involving other BTS members, including Jungkook and V. This latest confirmation suggests a potential recalibration of the agency’s communication strategy regarding its artists’ personal lives.
