BSC AI Factory provides startups with sovereign compute capacity
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) has transitioned its AI Factory Accelerator Programme into full operation following a pilot initiative, providing startups with sovereign compute capacity, technical support, and training. As one of Europe’s first AI factories and the first in Spain, the BSC AI Factory has delivered more than 800 services to private and public-sector clients since its April 2025 launch.
NVIDIA Inception Portal Provides Access to BSC AI Factory
Access to some BSC AI Factory services is now available through the NVIDIA Inception portal. Many participating companies belong to the NVIDIA Inception program, which complements the accelerator by offering training through NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute open courses, business mentoring, and venture capital connections. Furthermore, an upcoming extension of MareNostrum 5—BSC’s public infrastructure powered by NVIDIA accelerated computing—will deliver supercomputing access through the BSC AI Factory and other European AI factories.
Three Inception Members Named AI Champions
During the pilot initiative’s demo day, three Inception members were named AI Champions:
- Qatium: Develops a water-network platform in early production with its Neural Water Intelligence technology, trained on MareNostrum 5 using NVIDIA accelerated computing, the cuGraph library, the PhysicsNeMo framework, and Nemotron open models.
- OneCareAI: A BSC research spin-off that utilized NVIDIA NIM microservices to build technology that identifies hidden atrial fibrillation in ECGs to help clinicians assess stroke risks.
- Avatia: Created a voice-first, multi-agent system utilizing NVIDIA NIM microservices, the Nemotron 3 open model family, and the NeMo Curator library to provide pharmaceutical sales support and curated medicine information for doctors.
Additional startups in the cohort—including Agrikola AI, Elna Health, Lokutor, Montevive AI, Oppy, Pack2Earth, and Up2Smart—focus on precision agriculture, medical imaging, speech services, enterprise security, sales intelligence, and sustainable packaging.
