BrightSpring Health Services Acquires UnitedHealth Home Health & Hospice for $238.5M
BrightSpring Health Services completed its acquisition of 107 home health and hospice locations from UnitedHealth Group on Friday, a deal valued at $238.5 million, according to a company statement.
The transaction, initially announced earlier this year, had been contingent upon the closing of UnitedHealth Group’s acquisition of Amedisys, which was finalized in August 2025. BrightSpring acquired the portfolio of assets following the completion of that larger deal. The acquired locations will be integrated into BrightSpring’s existing network of home and community-based health services.
BrightSpring CEO Jon Romeo expressed optimism about the growth potential of the home health and hospice sectors, describing an “unbelievable runway” for these services, according to a report in Hospice News. The company is currently working to integrate the newly acquired assets, and leadership anticipates accelerated growth as a result.
The acquisition comes as BrightSpring reported its fourth quarter and full year 2025 financial results on Wednesday, February 27, 2026, and initiated revenue and Adjusted EBITDA guidance for 2026. BrightSpring Health Services is a leading provider of home and community-based health services for complex populations, operating under the Nasdaq stock ticker BTSG.
UnitedHealth Group’s decision to divest the home health and hospice locations is part of a broader strategic realignment following its acquisition of Amedisys. BrightSpring’s purchase allows UnitedHealth to streamline its operations and focus on other areas of its healthcare portfolio.
