According to national statistics, approximately 50,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in Italy annually, making it the most common cancer affecting women, accounting for roughly one-third of all neoplastic diseases in the female population.
However, survival rates are improving, with 88% of patients surviving five years after diagnosis and a 91% probability of surviving an additional four years after the first year of diagnosis.
“We are increasingly convinced of the effectiveness of oncological screening,” stated Giuseppe russo Russo, general manager of Naples 3 South. “Prevention is essential to reduce mortality and improve the quality of life. screenings, such as mammography, are essential tools for early diagnosis and prompt intervention. Investing in prevention campaigns and accessibility to services is a priority for our ASL because of the importance of early diagnosis.”
