Colo Colo Rejects Peñarol‘s Initial Offer for Brayan Cortés

The board of directors at Colo Colo has turned down the first offer from Peñarol for goalkeeper Brayan Cortés. Aníbal Mosa, president of the corporation, stated, “For better or worse, we want to close this week. We do not want to give it more time and continue in this uncertainty. We have very crucial challenges,so we are also interested in cutting it this week. Peñarol understands that we have certain ways to meet.”

Peñarol’s initial proposal was a loan deal without a fee until December,with a purchase option set at US$1.2 million. The Uruguayan club would have covered Cortés’s salary, which amounts to $60 million per month at Colo Colo.

Regarding an incident involving Brayan Cortés’s car on public roads, Deportivo contacted Carabineros, but the police reported no details about any mishap involving the vehicle or the goalkeeper.

However, Colo Colo has informed this media outlet that the goalkeeper was involved in an incident around 6 p.m. on Wednesday. According to their account, “The player called Carabineros and took the procedure. The person responsible was another car. The vehicle was taken by Carabineros to the police station.” This version contradicts the police’s lack of information.

Colo Colo officials maintain that this incident will not affect Cortés’s professional routine.

Ongoing Negotiations for Cortés’s Loan

Brayan Cortés is awaiting the resolution of his potential loan to Peñarol.The Black and White board rejected the Uruguayan team’s initial offer but expressed a willingness to continue negotiations for the temporary transfer of the goalkeeper, who also serves as the national team’s goalkeeper.Colo Colo and Peñarol are currently discussing two key aspects: the fee for the loan and the division of Cortés’s salary.
