Brandenburg Teen Party: Racism Condemned After Far-Right Chants
A wave of condemnation followed reports of racist chants at a teen party held at the “Blue Velvet” club in Falkenberg, Brandenburg, on Saturday. Attendees reportedly shouted “Deutschland den Deutschen, Ausländer raus” (“Germany for the Germans, foreigners out”) while the song “L’Amour toujours” played, according to a statement released by the district administrator of Elbe-Elster county.
Christian Jaschinski, the district administrator (Landrat) of Elbe-Elster, sharply criticized the “racist slogans,” stating that such expressions are “unacceptable and have no place in our society.” The incident has prompted a response from Brandenburg’s Minister President Dietmar Woidke, who described himself as “appalled” and emphasized the need to “never remain silent” on such matters.
The incident occurred during a party attended by approximately 100 to 150 young people aged eleven and older, according to Tino Veit, the owner of the “Blue Velvet” club. Veit expressed regret over the misuse of the song, particularly given the event’s target audience, and stated his intention to better prepare DJs to respond to similar situations in the future. He affirmed his openness and opposition to radical ideologies.
“L’Amour toujours,” a song released over two decades ago, has turn into a recurring target for the insertion of hateful slogans due to its wordless refrain. A similar incident in 2024 on the North Sea island of Sylt drew widespread outrage when attendees chanted the same racist phrases to the song’s melody.
The Green Party in Brandenburg characterized the incident as evidence of a disturbing normalization of far-right rhetoric, even among young people. They argued that such displays are not isolated occurrences but rather indicative of a long-underestimated problem.
Christian Jaschinski, a member of the CDU, has served as Landrat of Elbe-Elster since 2010. He was defeated in the recent Landrat election on March 1, 2026, by independent candidate Marcel Schmidt and will leave office on April 25, 2026. Jaschinski was previously the mayor of Rückersdorf and a member of the Elbe-Elster district council.
