Boston Legacy First Light Kit: Introducing the Inaugural Season

Boston Legacy FC unveiled its inaugural home kit, dubbed “First Light,” on Friday, marking a significant milestone ahead of the team’s debut season in the National Women’s Soccer League on March 14.

The kit, primarily a shade of green the club has designated “Legacy Green,” features accents of “Pitch Black,” “Stadium White,” and “Fire Berry,” according to a team statement. The design aims to establish a visual identity for the franchise as it enters the league.

Vanessa Bruce, Boston Legacy FC’s head of innovation and strategic projects, described the unveiling as a tangible step toward the team’s first match. “It makes it real,” she said, according to reporting by The Athletic. “It’s one step closer to March 14, when we accept the pitch for the first time.”

The “First Light” kit incorporates the club’s crest near the heart of the jersey, positioned above the logo of primary sponsor T.J.Maxx. A unique hem tag, depicting two bears holding a soccer ball, pays homage to the Franklin Park Zoo, located near White Stadium, the team’s future home.

Jennifer van Dijk, Boston Legacy president, stated that the kit represents the foundation upon which the club will build its legacy. “The green of our kit grounds us in the city we are so proud to represent, like the green of our parks — including Franklin Park, our future home,” she said. “It stands out among a league of standout teams, and is part of our mission to create something lasting from day one.”

Additional sponsorship logos on the jersey include Hyundai Motor America on the sleeve and Voya Financial on the lower back. The team will split its home games between Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, and another location yet to be announced.

Filipa Patão, Boston Legacy head coach, emphasized the responsibility the team feels toward its community and supporters. “When we step foot on the field, we are here to play exciting football and when you look at our jersey, you’ll have that feeling of excitement at seeing the game,” she said.

The release of the secondary kit is scheduled for February 26, according to the club. Jerseys are currently available for purchase on the Boston Legacy FC website.
