Borderlands 4’s First patch Addresses performance, But PC Issues persist
A first update for Borderlands 4 has rolled out on PC aiming to improve stability, but reports of ongoing performance problems – including crashes and stuttering – continue to flood in from players. Gearbox Software’s CEO previously cautioned teh game would be demanding, yet the extent of the issues following launch surprised many.
The patch, detailed in release notes on the official Borderlands website, is intended to enhance stability “on a wide range of computers.” gearbox notes players will need to undergo a full Shader Hercompilation – a process potentially taking up to 15 minutes - after applying the update. Console players on PlayStation and Xbox are still awaiting the patch, despite also experiencing crashes and stuttering.
Gearbox is also directing NVIDIA users to an official optimization guide with recommended settings and the latest Game Ready Driver 581.29. However, a growing number of users on Steam report the patch has not resolved thier issues. Some continue to experience crashes, others report increased stuttering, and a few have even claimed to have lost character skins.
As of this writing, Gearbox has not publicly addressed these new reports, but has stated that further updates are planned.
