TOKYO – The Bolivian national football team concluded training in Japan today and is prepared for tomorrow’s match against the Japanese national team. This contest marks the end of the year’s FIFA international window for Bolivia, though Head Coach Óscar Villegas has planned four additional kind matches before the crucial March playoff matches.
The upcoming game against Japan is a key prospect for Bolivia to assess its progress and refine its strategy ahead of the playoff push for a spot in a major tournament. Villegas emphasized the team’s advancement in several areas, stating, “We want to continue improving, growing, and being more solid when it comes to finishing. We also need to avoid defensive distractions that have cost us goals.”
Villegas detailed the team’s focus on correcting tactical and mental errors, specifically addressing the high-pressure style of play characteristic of the Japanese squad. “We will seek to provide security in the build-up from the back and, from there, generate possession in midfield,” he explained.
Bolivia will have a full roster available for the match, with Carlos Lampe,Ervin Vaca, robson Matheus, and Carlos Antonio Melgar joining the team at the close of training camp. La Verde aims to finish their Asian tour with a strong, competitive performance.
