Blümchen Bids Farewell: jasmin Wagner Announces Final Concert Amidst Mother’s Illness
Mannheim, Germany – After a career spanning three decades, German pop icon Jasmin Wagner, known to millions as “Blümchen,” is preparing for her final stage appearance. The concert, slated for this Saturday in Mannheim, comes after a deeply personal and challenging period for the singer, who postponed a previous farewell tour due to her mother’s serious illness.
Wagner, 45, shared her plans at the YouTube Awards, expressing both excitement and a touch of melancholy. “my official last performance is this Saturday in Mannheim.I’m really excited. A lot of friends are coming, we’ve basically booked out the whole train becuase everyone wants to be there, that’s very nice. We’re doing a few things differently than usual, there should be a bit of a bang at the end,” she told Berliner KURIER.
The decision to finally conclude her musical journey as Blümchen was initially prompted by a desire to focus on her mother’s health. In August, Wagner tearfully announced the postponement of her farewell concerts, stating, ”I have to take care of her, I want to take care of her.” While details regarding her mother’s current condition remain private, Wagner’s commitment to family is clear.
Despite the emotional weight of the occasion, Wagner appears at peace with her decision. “Moast people I meet say, ‘Oh yeah, I’ve quit and come back five times.’ But right now it feels like a goodbye forever,” she reflected. “Of course I don’t know what will happen in ten years. But it’s a farewell of my own choosing, so I’m not sad.”
Wagner acknowledges the enduring legacy of her music, assuring fans that Blümchen’s hits will continue to resonate. “Thank God my music won’t disappear, it will continue to be heard.Whether I continue to get involved or not, Blümchen’s music will be heard everywhere again.”
This isn’t the first time Wagner has stepped away from the spotlight. She previously paused her career in the early 2000s to explore acting and other ventures, enjoying a successful comeback in 2019. However, this time, she believes the departure will be more permanent.
“The first time I stopped, I thought it would also be a withdrawal from the public. But I now know from experience that that won’t change and that’s a good thing. I’m still visible and I don’t have a plan yet as to what that will be like.”
