Blood Donors Celebrate Valentine’s Day – First Gathering in Chaingy-Huisseau

by Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor

For the first time, blood donors in the French communes of Chaingy and Huisseau-sur-Mauves marked Valentine’s Day with a dedicated gathering, according to local reports. The volunteer association, *Les Donneurs de sang*, organized the event as a means of fostering camaraderie among donors and reinforcing the importance of blood donation.

The association’s initiative comes as France continues to rely on volunteer blood donations to maintain its national supply. The *Etablissement Français du Sang* (EFS), the French Blood Establishment, coordinates collection efforts nationwide, including mobile drives and fixed-site locations like the Centre Associatif et Culturel in Chaingy. That location, at Passage de la Chatonnière, will host a blood drive on April 16th, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

The Chaingy-Huisseau association aims to uphold the donor’s code of honor, advocate for members’ interests with public authorities, and provide both technical and moral support to those who donate. Professionals will be on hand at collection points to guide first-time donors through the process, which organizers describe as quick and efficient.

A recent mobile blood drive was held in the nearby commune of La Chapelle Saint Mesmin on February 10th, 2026, at the Espace Beraire, Salle Repas, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The EFS Centre-Pays de la Loire is identified as the organizing body for the Chaingy collection point, with ID numbers 809879 / LOC902.

The association encourages both regular and new donors to participate, emphasizing that even a small contribution can save lives. Appointments are encouraged, but not required, for the April 16th collection in Chaingy.
