Bleacher Report Names Bruins Top Trade Landing Spot for Mark Scheifele
The Boston Bruins emerged as a primary trade landing spot for Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele, according to a report. Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report identified Boston as a top destination for the 103-point superstar, noting the franchise’s ongoing search for a first-line center following Patrice Bergeron’s retirement.
The Bruins Offense Searches for a First-Line Center
Boston entered the 2026-27 NHL campaign experiencing an up-and-down start. After opening the year with a two-game winning streak, the team dropped two consecutive games. Finding a reliable top-line center remains a persistent hurdle for the organization. Elias Lindholm has not filled the void left by Bergeron, who retired after the 2022-23 season. That persistent roster gap prompted analysts to evaluate outside options.
Adam Gretz outlined the impact of adding an elite forward in his Bleacher Report analysis. The Bruins almost certainly still see themselves as a playoff team, and a team that is capable of contending. But there is always going to be a ceiling on what they can do without a true No. 1 center on the roster. It would not solve all of their problems, but it would solve a big problem,
Gretz wrote.
Mark Scheifele Produces 103 Points in Winnipeg
Scheifele posted strong numbers during the 2025-26 season with the Jets. Across 82 games, the center recorded 36 goals and a career-high 103 points. That followed a 2024-25 campaign where he notched 39 goals and 87 points through 82 games.

Despite those historical totals, Scheifele experienced a quiet opening to the current season. He recorded zero points through his first three games with Winnipeg. Analysts expect a bounce-back given his recent offensive production.
Integrating Scheifele into Boston’s top six could provide immediate support for winger David Pastrnak. Pastrnak has shouldered heavy offensive responsibilities since the departure of longtime veterans. Adding a centerman of Scheifele’s caliber would alter the team’s forward configuration.
Scheifele No-Movement Clause Complicates Potential Trade
Executing a trade for Scheifele presents distinct roster management challenges. The forward carries a bargain $8.5 million cap hit through the 2030-31 season. Because of that favorable contract and his high production level, the Jets would command a significant return package in any transaction.
Scheifele holds a full no-movement clause for the current season. He maintains complete control over whether he waives the clause and where he might accept a trade. Boston can only acquire the center if he specifically desires to play for the Bruins.
Whether Mark Scheifele ultimately approves a move to Boston, and what specific assets the Jets might demand in return, remains completely unknown as the NHL season progresses.
