Cherno More Varna is set to make its debut in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday, July 24th, facing Turkish side Başakşehir at the Huvepharma Arena in Razgrad. The match is scheduled to kick off at 8:00 PM.
The Bulgarian club, Cherno More, began their domestic championship campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Lokomotiv Sofia.New signing Rumen Chandarov scored for the “sailors” in that match. Another recent acquisition, midfielder Ilian Iliev, and Brazilian Gustavo Franco are unavailable for the European tie. Franco is still awaiting clearance to play, while defensive midfielder Berk Beyhan is sidelined with an injury sustained in the opening league fixture.
Başakşehir secured their place in the Conference League by finishing fifth in the Turkish Super League last season. This will be the first official match for manager Atan Çağdaş’s team. The turkish club has been preparing for the new season with a training camp in austria, where they played three amiable matches: a 1-0 victory against Fortuna Düsseldorf, a 4-1 win over Austrian side Raichenau, and a goalless draw with Braunschweig.
