Bitcoin Trades Near $83,000 Amid ETF Outflows, Investing.com Reports
Bitcoin traded near $83,000 on Saturday as a late-week market rebound lost momentum, dragged down by rising oil prices, higher U.S. Treasury yields, and renewed cryptocurrency security concerns, Investing.com reported. The world’s largest cryptocurrency sat at $83,007.40 by 11:01 ET on Saturday, down 0.1% on the day following a session range between $82,537.70 and $83,054.00. Substantial spot exchange-traded fund outflows showed that institutional demand across global financial markets remains uncertain.
The leading digital asset retreated from near $87,000 the previous Sunday, marking a 3% decline over the week. Compounding market friction, CoinDesk analysis cited by Investing.com noted that Bitcoin recorded 10 days in 2026 with price moves of at least three standard deviations from its recent trading pattern, surpassing the eight recorded throughout the entirety of 2018. Markets now look toward upcoming consumer price index and producer price index reports to gauge whether the Federal Reserve might resume raising interest rates.
US Spot Bitcoin ETFs Record Net Outflows
Data from SoSoValue highlighted institutional strain, showing that U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net outflows of approximately $681.11 million across five trading sessions from October 5 to October 9. Withdrawals concentrated heavily on October 7 and October 8, registering net outflows of $487.07 million and $244.13 million respectively. While partial offsets arrived via inflows of $118.86 million on October 6 and $21.13 million on October 9, Friday’s modest addition failed to reverse cumulative weekly withdrawals.

Macroeconomic factors continue to challenge speculative digital assets. Higher energy prices and Treasury yields parallel market expectations that the Federal Reserve will hold its benchmark rate steady at the upcoming October 27–28 meeting, while leaving room for a potential 25-basis-point increase in December. Higher interest rates typically diminish the relative appeal of cryptocurrencies by elevating returns available within traditional fixed-income instruments.
