Norwegian cross-country skier and biathlete Birgit Skarstein has given birth to a baby girl, announcing the news via Instagram on September 26, 2024. Skarstein and her partner,Eirik Ulimoen,welcomed their daughter into the world on wednesday,September 25,2024.
The 35-year-old Skarstein, a Paralympic medalist and world champion, revealed her pregnancy in January 2024. She has been a prominent figure in Norwegian winter sports, competing in both cross-country skiing and biathlon, and has openly shared her journey through motherhood with her followers. The arrival of her daughter marks a new chapter for the athlete and her family.
Skarstein has not yet announced any plans regarding her return to competitive skiing. She previously competed at the 2022 Winter Paralympics in Beijing, winning gold in the women’s long-distance cross-country skiing event.
