Aragon Judo Championship: Local Judokas Shine, Secure Spots in National Competition
Monzalbarba, Spain – The second phase of the Aragon championship for children and cadet judo categories concluded Saturday, showcasing the talent and dedication of young athletes from across the region. The competition, featuring 28 judokas from the Binéfar Judo Club (CJB) and the TCJ, saw notable performances, with several athletes securing their place in the upcoming Spanish Championship.
Binéfar Judo Club: A Strong Showing
The Binéfar Judo Club demonstrated its strength with notable achievements in both the children and cadet categories. Coach Antonio Clager accompanied the athletes, providing guidance and support throughout the event.
Children’s Category Highlights
- Sara Maull (+63 kg): Dominated the female category, winning all her fights and earning a gold medal, which secures her spot at the Spanish Championship.

Additional athletes who have qualified include Iván in the children’s category, and Daniela Teres, Ballalo Coulibaly and Sogona Magassa in the cadet category.
European Cadet Cup 2025 Téplice: International Experience
While the Aragon Championship was underway,two judokas from the region,accompanied by coach Raúl Clemente,competed in the Cadet Cup 2025 in Téplice,Czech Republic. This prestigious competition featured approximately 805 judokas from 38 nations, providing valuable international experience.
- Ballalo Coulibaly (+70 kg): Faced tough competition, losing to the Ukrainian Khimchyk in the first round and the German Dilger in the second round.
- Sogona Magassa (+70 kg): Also faced strong opponents,losing to the German Pruesse in the first round and the Croatian Ajdukovic in the second round. Despite a strong effort in the repechage, sogona lost to the turkish Serin in the fight for bronze, securing a 7th place finish.
Sogona gets his second 7th place in the European circuit.

Barbastro Judo Club: Five Athletes Qualify for Nationals
The Barbastro Judo Club also celebrated a successful Aragon Championship, with five judokas qualifying for the school Age Championship.
- Qualified Judokas: Mario sicilia, Fatumata Diarra, Adama Macalou, and María Cate (children’s category), and Juan José Oroño (cadet category).
- Silver Medalists: Mateo Giraral and Máximo Oroño.
