SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – Microsoft founder Bill ​Gates revealed he uses a Samsung‌ smartphone, a gift from Samsung⁢ Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, during an appearance on the tvN program “Yu Quiz on the Block,” as reported on August 27th.

The revelation came​ during a conversation with host Yoo Jae-seok, who noted‍ a similarity in‌ Gates’ and his own glasses styles, prompting Gates to comment, ⁤”the style is style.” Gates further‌ discussed ​his commitment to‌ philanthropy, stating his⁤ intention ⁤to ⁤donate 99%‌ of his wealth.

“I ‍thought it​ was right to return the remaining resources to society. I started the charity ‍business with the question of what ⁤could have a really significant impact,” gates explained.

When‍ asked about‍ his ​daily spending, Gates acknowledged, “I use quite‍ a lot.”⁢ He clarified that Lee Jae-yong did not pay for the⁣ samsung phone he uses.

Gates, a pivotal figure in the digital ‍revolution⁣ as a co-founder ⁤of Microsoft, is known for his ‍work in technological innovation and charitable endeavors. He plans to contribute approximately $200 billion ‍(roughly 280 ⁣trillion Korean won) to society through his personal wealth and the Gates Foundation by 2045.

Gates recently visited Korea, meeting with President Yoon Suk-yeol on August⁣ 21st⁢ to discuss collaborations in​ global health⁣ initiatives. This visit marked his first to ⁣the country​ in three⁢ years.

Samsung⁤ Electronics has a history of‌ collaboration with the Gates Foundation, notably promoting ⁢the Reinvented Toilet​ (RT) project initiated by⁤ the foundation in 2011, aimed at improving sanitation⁤ globally.

Samsung Electronics actively engages in Corporate social ​Responsibility (CSR) programs, operating 22 such initiatives. A key program, the Samsung Youth SW ⁣and ‍AI ‍Academy (SSAFY), has produced 10,000 graduates in seven years, contributing​ to ​the growth of ⁢AI talent in Korea.
