Bia Haddad to Face Ella Seidel in Seoul WTA Round of Eight; Live Coverage on Disney+
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – september 18, 2025 – Brazil’s Bia Haddad Maia will compete in the quarterfinal round of the Seoul WTA 250 tournament today, facing off against rising German player Ella Seidel. The match, scheduled to begin at 3:10 AM Brasilia time, will be broadcast live on Disney+ streaming.
Haddad, the tournament’s defending champion, secured her place in the quarterfinals with a straight-sets victory over South Korea’s Back Dayeon, 6/4 and 6/3. Maintaining her title defense is crucial for Haddad to avoid a significant drop in the WTA rankings.
Seidel,20,has yet to claim an elite title but recently gained attention with a strong performance at the Cincinnati 2025 WTA 1000,reaching the round of 16 after progressing through qualifying with five consecutive wins.
The Seoul competition awards 500 points to the winner, 325 to the runner-up, and 195 to semifinalists.
Haddad’s 2025 season has been characterized by inconsistency, including a nine-match losing streak between January and April and a period between June and August where she failed to win consecutive matches. She was recently eliminated in the quarterfinals of the SP Open in São Paulo by Renata Zarazua, gaining 54 ranking points and climbing to 25th in the world.
