Moers, Germany – Bethanien Hospital Moers is launching a free, eight-week nutritional education program designed to empower residents to adopt healthier eating habits on a budget. The program, titled “Self-effective healthy diet for little money,” begins September 16, 2025, and aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to improve their well-being through informed food choices.
The course will be held on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bethanien Akademie (Bethanienstraße 15,47441 Moers) on the following dates: September 16,September 23,September 30,October 7,October 14,October 28,and November 4,2025. Participants will learn about nutritional fundamentals, preventative health measures, and practical strategies for incorporating healthy eating into their daily lives without breaking the bank.
“The aim is to make the participants a healthy and health-promoting diet in the truest sense of the word – and to show them that healthy does not always mean the same expensive,” explained course instructor Merle Faber. “The individual course units are structured in such a way that we start with an informative lecture and then do two to three exercises to apply what thay heard directly.”
The curriculum will cover topics including understanding personal eating behaviors, macronutrients and calorie intake, navigating food labeling, healthy cooking techniques, mindful eating, and dietary change planning.Specific session themes include: “Who am I and how do I eat your own eating behavior,” “What is my food from and how much is the right amount for me? – Macronutrients and calories explained,” “Healthy eating what is that? – find your way around in the labeling jungle,” “Cooking and preparing – what is hidden in the kitchen,” “Healthy enjoyment – perceive and meet needs,” and “how do I plan a change in diet.”
