Qdoba topped Duffy’s list, praised for its customizable build-your-own quesadilla format. “The nice thing about Qdoba is you can build your own quesadilla right at the counter,” Duffy said. The restaurant allows customers to select fillings, meats, and vegetables, and includes sour cream and guacamole at no extra cost. A quesadilla at Qdoba costs around $12.00.
Taco Bell secured the second spot, noted for its consistent quality and late-night appeal. Duffy acknowledged the chain’s enduring popularity, stating, “Say what you seek about Taco Bell, but no other chain’s quesadilla has inspired fan loyalty like theirs.” He highlighted the reliably tender chicken, perfectly melted cheese, and well-constructed tortilla.
Moe’s Southwest Grill earned the third ranking, with Duffy specifically praising the Chicken Club Quesadilla. He described it as a successful translation of a club sandwich into quesadilla form, noting the option to customize with additions like black beans or jalapeños. Moe’s also offers build-your-own options with organic tofu or sirloin steak, and complimentary chips.
Del Taco was ranked fourth, recognized for its willingness to experiment with flavor combinations. Duffy pointed to the option of ordering a chicken quesadilla “bold,” which adds the chain’s signature secret sauce and crinkle-cut fries. “It’s not always a standard option for quesadillas, but when it works, it really works,” he said, noting the added crunch and flavor.

Duffy emphasized that the same signature chicken used in other dishes is incorporated into their quesadillas, resulting in balanced flavor combinations and well-melted cheese.
