Benito Juárez Scholarship: Mexico Invests Heavily in High School Students

Historic Investment Boosts Benito Juárez Worldwide scholarship Program

Mexico City, December 3,​ 2025 – ‌The Mexican Secretary of Public education (SEP) today announced a meaningful‌ investment exceeding 33,920 million pesos in the Benito Juárez Universal​ Scholarship for⁣ Higher Secondary Education. This funding represents​ a ⁤significant increase⁤ in the⁣ program’s reach adn impact, furthering the government’s commitment to ‌equitable access to education.

The ⁣scholarship program ⁤now benefits 4,064,815 students nationwide for the 2024-2025 school year, ​a 64.2‍ percent increase ⁤from the 2.5 million students supported ⁣previously. This ⁤expansion covers 13,486 Higher ⁣Secondary Education schools -​ 97.7 percent‍ of all such institutions⁢ – across the‌ country.

Secretary Mario Delgado Carrillo emphasized ⁢the program’s importance as‍ a cornerstone of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s administration, stating that “each ⁣scholarship⁤ student represents ‌a ⁣direct investment in the future of ⁢the country.” ‍He further highlighted education as “the ‌most effective⁣ strategy to strengthen⁤ the social fabric,⁤ promote educational mobility ‌and generate more⁤ opportunities for the youth of mexico.”

Data from the National Coordination of⁤ Scholarships ‌for ⁤Wellbeing (CNBB), led by Julio León Trujillo, reveals ⁣a strong focus on gender equality within the program. Of⁢ the total beneficiaries, ‍2,131,873 are women and⁣ 1,932,942 are men.This​ distribution underscores the ⁤government’s dedication to eliminating ancient barriers to education and⁢ promoting full access for all.

The Benito ‍Juárez Universal ⁢Scholarship is designed to combat school dropout⁢ rates ‍by providing financial assistance⁤ to students​ for ⁤essential expenses such as transportation, school supplies, ‍and⁢ food. ‍Julio León Trujillo of⁢ the CNBB affirmed the program’s‍ prioritization ‌of vulnerable communities and highlighted⁤ the CNBB’s efforts to⁤ establish a‍ transparent and efficient system for timely support delivery⁣ across all 32‍ Mexican states.

Distribution of a continuity payment covering ‍November and december will begin tomorrow, December 4th, and will be staggered based on the first letter of students’ ⁤last names:

The SEP stated ‍that this investment⁤ and program expansion align with the​ principles of the New Mexican School (NEM),⁣ supporting⁢ young⁤ people in ‍building a more equitable and supportive nation.
