Ben Shelton Returns to Competition at Rolex shanghai Masters
SHANGHAI, China – ben Shelton is set to return to competitive tennis at the Rolex Shanghai Masters this week, marking his frist tournament appearance since a shoulder injury sidelined him following the US Open in early September. The University of Florida standout took approximately one month to recover and prepare for the ATP Masters 1000 event.
Shelton’s return comes at a pivotal moment in the ATP Tour season. The Rolex Shanghai Masters offers notable ranking points – 1000 to the winner – as players vie for position in the year-end rankings and qualification for the ATP Finals. Despite his absence, Shelton has maintained his position as the world No. 6 player. Currently, Carlos Alcaraz holds the No. 1 ranking after winning the US Open, surpassing Jannik Sinner.
Shelton received a first-round bye and will face David Goffin (ATP No.83) in the Round of 64. Their match is scheduled for 12:30 a.m. EST on October 3, 2025. This will be a rematch of their Round of 16 encounter at Acapulco earlier this year, a match Goffin won.
Fans can watch Shelton’s return on the Tennis Channel or stream the match live on Tennis TV with a subscription.
