Belkin Power Bank Recall Issued Following Reports of overheating, Fire Risk
Chilean authorities have issued an alert regarding a potential safety hazard wiht a specific model of Belkin portable power bank. Teh National Consumer Service (Sernac) reports that the “BoostCharge USB-C PD Power Bank 20K” (model BPB002), sold in Chile between May 2024 and August 2025, can overheat and pose a fire risk due to a defect in a lithium battery component within the wireless charging support. Approximately 1,479 units are currently in consumer possession.
While no incidents have been reported in Chile, eleven cases of overheating and related accidents have occurred in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Europe.Consumers who own this power bank are urged to immediately discontinue use and store the device in a safe, dry location away from flammable materials. Disposal in regular trash is not recommended due to the fire hazard.
The recall affects all batteries with 14-digit serial numbers beginning with “35S.” Consumers can verify their serial number on the back of the device. Belkin is offering full refunds of approximately $39,990 (Chilean pesos) upon presentation of a purchase receipt or a photograph of the battery’s front and back.
