Beijing Sports Association Appoints New Leaders for Six Committees
The event finalized the appointment of new leadership teams for committees focused on outdoor sports, gymnastics and aerobics, badminton, table tennis, archery, and physical training.
Leadership Appointments Across Six Sports Committees
The transition process involved the formal reading of appointment letters by association officials Yang Cizhou and Jia Shushen, followed by the announcement of specific committee rosters by Fan Qinghui and Liu Zheng.
The newly appointed committee chairs include Wu Fei for the outdoor sports branch, Zheng Zhong for physical training, Li Ning for gymnastics and aerobics, Wang Dongmin for badminton, Qian Junwei for table tennis, and Chen Zhengwei for archery. These chairs, alongside newly appointed directors-general—including Qian Yongjian, He Zhonghui, Huang Yu, Ouyang Zeman, Liu Wei, and Zhang Bing—will oversee the strategic direction of their respective disciplines for the upcoming term.
Jiang Guohua emphasized that the university views athletic development as a fundamental component of its institutional pedagogical framework.
The outgoing secretaries of the six committees, including Qian Yongjian and Liu Wei, presented summaries of their work from the previous term, highlighting advancements in competition organization, faculty training, and intercollegiate exchange. These reports serve as the operational baseline for the incoming leadership, which is tasked with deepening professional standards and expanding the reach of these sports programs across the capital’s higher education institutions.
Future Objectives for Metropolitan Collegiate Athletics
Looking toward the next phase of development, association leadership set clear expectations for the new committees. The incoming chairs have pledged to focus on talent pipeline development, the integration of sports technology, and the creation of branded, high-profile campus athletic events.
The association’s directive requires that these committees move beyond basic administration to foster a more professionalized environment for student-athletes. This includes elevating the quality of scientific research in sports training and broadening the scope of intercollegiate collaboration. For universities and athletic departments, this transition represents a push toward standardized, high-quality athletic programming.
