M6 is shaking up its programming schedule for the highly anticipated 21st season of Peking Express, titled The Ice Route. The adventure series, known for its grueling challenges, will return on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 9:10 p.m.-a departure from its customary Tuesday or Thursday slots and the first time the show has aired on a friday since 2009.
Filmed entirely in the extreme cold of Kazakhstan, The Ice Route presents a new level of difficulty for its eight competing pairs-a reduction from the usual ten. Host Stéphane Rotenberg described the conditions as far harsher than typical alpine cold, stating, “We have the image of the cold that we can have while skiing, but this has nothing to do with it.” Temperatures ranged from -5°C to -28°C, posing important physical challenges, including the need to breathe through scarves to avoid burning the palate and experiencing frozen tears. producer Thierry Guillaume added, “ItS definitely not the Alps in February.”
The upcoming season promises a unique viewing experience, as candidates navigate the Kazakh landscape without crossing any international borders. This special edition of Peking Express, launched in 2006, was filmed in March 2025.
