Barcelona scouts were reportedly present at recent World Cup qualifying matches to observe RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa, according to Football-Espana. The 20-year-old Norwegian international caught the eye of Barcelona’s new head of scouting, Joao Amaral, during Norway‘s victories over Estonia and italy.
Barcelona’s interest in Nusa extends back 18 months, predating his transfer to RB leipzig last summer. The club previously considered a move for Nusa in May 2024 and again during the recent transfer window. This renewed scouting activity suggests Barcelona views Nusa as a potential long-term addition to their squad, possibly as an alternative or complement to Manchester United loanee jadon Sancho.
Nusa featured in both of Norway’s World Cup qualifying wins, notably scoring against Italy at the san Siro. Amaral, who also serves as an assistant to sporting director Deco, was in attendance at that match.
Barcelona have identified Nusa as a “differential player” and, at eight years younger than Sancho, may prioritize him as a future investment. While the club’s immediate focus remains on strengthening the center-back and striker positions next summer, Nusa remains a target should funds become available.
