BAFTA Film Awards 2024: Red Carpet Highlights & Winners

London – Robert Aramayo emerged as the surprise victor at the 79th British Academy Film Awards, held Sunday evening in London, taking home the Best Actor award and overshadowing pre-ceremony favorites Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet. The ceremony, held at the Royal Festival Hall, saw Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Une bataille après l’autre” dominate, securing five awards.

The red carpet was a focal point for celebrity arrivals. DiCaprio, a perennial presence at awards shows, navigated the crowds with his characteristic poise, while Chalamet drew enthusiastic reactions from fans. Kylie Jenner was also in attendance, awaiting the results for Chalamet’s film, “Marty Supreme,” which ultimately did not receive any awards.

Anderson’s “Une bataille après l’autre” proved to be the night’s biggest winner, with the director humorously remarking on stage, “I feel like the prettiest girl in the room,” as he accepted the awards. Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst were observed exchanging affectionate glances, while veteran actress Monica Bellucci made a striking impression. Glenn Close, demonstrating enduring star power, also attended the event. Sadie Sink and Noah Jupe walked the red carpet together, having previously co-starred in “Hamnet.”

Patrick Dempsey made a poignant appearance, accompanied by his daughter Talula, marking his first public outing since the death of his friend Eric Dane. Cillian Murphy, known for his role as Thomas Shelby in “Peaky Blinders,” was present to support his film “Steve,” but departed the post-ceremony dinner quickly to return to his hotel.

Chase Infiniti, starring in “Une bataille après l’autre,” captivated attention in a custom-designed Louis Vuitton gown, having recently been named an ambassador for the fashion house. Her co-star, Teyana Taylor, opted for a plum-colored Burberry dress paired with Tiffany jewelry. Bryan Cranston chose to interact directly with fans, foregoing the traditional photocall. Jacob Elordi and Sean Penn, both nominated for Best Supporting Actor, were notably absent from the ceremony.

The evening concluded with the arrival of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Princess Kate made a significant return to public engagements, wearing a Gucci dress previously worn in 2019 at a Women in Finance association dinner. No mention was made of Prince Andrew, the former Duke of York.
