Local Players Dominate at Chandigarh State Badminton Championships
Chandigarh, India – The Chandigarh Mini, Junior and Senior State Badminton Championships concluded yesterday with a resounding victory for local talent, especially players from the Sector 38 Sports Complex. Over 300 athletes competed across 14 events, showcasing a high level of skill and sportsmanship.
Hiyan Yadav of the Sector 38 Sports Complex took home the boys’ U-11 title, decisively defeating Yakshith Rana 21-11, 21-14. In the girls’ U-11 category, Arnaaz Kaur of Shivalik Academy proved too strong for Pragun, winning 21-12, 21-7.
The junior and senior divisions saw equally remarkable performances. Ridhima Saini,also training at Sector 38,delivered a stunning upset in the girls’ U-19 final,overcoming top seed Jasmeet Kaur 23-21,21-14. Rana Ruder Partap Singh secured the boys’ U-19 title with a 21-17, 21-16 victory over Suryansh Raghav.
Rijul Saini demonstrated resilience in the women’s final,battling back from a first-game loss to defeat Mahnoor Kaur 17-21,21-13,21-17. The men’s singles crown went to Samarveer Sharma, who bested Mohit Singh in a three-game match: 21-17, 8-21, 21-14.
