Melissa Rycroft, star of “Teh Bachelor,” informed police she had been struck by another vehicle shortly before her recent arrest for driving while intoxicated, according to law enforcement. Officers subsequently administered field sobriety tests, and after observing the results, placed Rycroft in a police vehicle where a search of her car allegedly revealed containers with remnants of alcoholic beverages.
The incident unfolded after Rycroft was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Southlake, Texas. No injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved. Rycroft was initially taken into custody and booked into jail, later being released on a $1,000 bond. The case highlights the complexities of DWI investigations and the importance of due process,as Rycroft’s attorney emphasizes the presumption of innocence. Toxicology results are pending and will be crucial in determining the next steps.
Southlake Police Department officials stated that after the crash, Rycroft told them she had been hit by another car. Following field sobriety tests, officers searched her vehicle and found cups containing “fresh droplets of colored liquid substances and spilled liquids inside the vehicle” believed to be alcohol.
Rycroft’s attorney, Bret Martin, released a statement urging caution before drawing conclusions. “It is imperative that we closely examine the circumstances of this case – including the conduct of law enforcement, the toxicology results, and the facts surrounding her arrest – before any conclusions are drawn,” Martin said.
