Baby Dusky Langur Born at Guangzhou Chimelong Safari Park | China Wildlife News
A golden-headed langur infant, named “Chuqi,” celebrated its one-month birthday on March 23, 2026, at the Guangzhou Chimelong Safari Park in China, drawing attention to the park’s conservation efforts for this rare primate.
The newborn, a member of a dusky langur family, is distinguished by its striking golden-yellow fur and inquisitive nature. Park officials report that Chuqi is already captivating visitors with its habit of “looking directly at the camera,” quickly becoming a popular attraction. The infant is currently thriving alongside its parents in the black leaf monkey exhibit area.
As a national first-class protected animal, the birth of Chuqi is significant for the species’ conservation. Visitors to Chimelong Safari Park can observe the baby langur engaging in natural behaviors such as climbing, playing, and cuddling with its parents along a dedicated viewing walkway. The park provides professional educational explanations and illustrated knowledge boards detailing the black leaf monkey’s habitat, endangered status, and Chimelong’s ongoing conservation initiatives.
The arrival of Chuqi follows the recent public debut of another langur newborn, “Chuyi,” at the same park in March 2025. Chuyi, a Francois’ langur, was named to signify the first day of spring. Both births underscore Chimelong Safari Park’s role in the preservation of these endangered primates.
On March 25, 2026, Chimelong Safari Park remains open to the public, operating from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 29 degrees Celsius. The park currently holds a 4.8/5 rating based on 99213 reviews, and attracts interest from 6213 travelers.
