Though, the subjective nature and scale of this task frequently enough present notable challenges.
to overcome these hurdles,the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (ISI) Joint Innovation Hub (JIH) has developed AWAIT – the Automated Website Analysis for Innovative Technologies tool. AWAIT leverages artificial intelligence to deliver a data-driven and accelerated approach to understanding a company’s technological focus.
AWAIT analyzes a company’s website content to determine its expertise and positioning within key technology areas, including artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, the metaverse, and quantum computing. Unlike relying solely on marketing materials,AWAIT provides an objective,evidence-based assessment of a company’s true technological commitments.
The tool operates thru a three-step process:
- Smart Web Crawling: AWAIT begins by systematically scanning a company’s website, identifying and filtering relevant pages using a classification system. This ensures that only pages containing considerable content are analyzed, maximizing accuracy and focus.
- Keyword extraction & AI Readiness: Once relevant pages are identified, AWAIT extracts all textual data.It then performs a detailed keyword analysis, counting terms associated with specific technologies. Crucially, this data is formatted to be readily processed by generative AI models.
- AI-Driven Contextual Analysis & Scoring: A generative AI engine analyzes the extracted text, going beyond simple keyword counts to evaluate the context in which those keywords appear. This allows AWAIT to generate engagement scores for different technology areas, providing a clear description for each score. The results are then visualized – often through a spider diagram – offering a readily understandable overview of the company’s strengths in AI and other key technological domains.
