James Cameron has revealed that “Avatar 3,” subtitled “The Seed Bearer,” will explore a different facet of the Na’vi, presenting them in a less universally positive light than in previous installments. “I want to present the Na’vi from another angle because so far, I have only shown their good sides,” Cameron stated. “In the first films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi. In Avatar 3, we will do the opposite.”
The director also highlighted that the film’s significant creative advancement will lie in “greater depth of the characters” and the introduction of “new cultures, new creatures.” Cameron’s aim is to immerse the audience “in the hearts and souls of the characters.”
Returning cast members include Sigourney Weaver as Kiri and Dr. Grace Augustine, Britain Dalton as Lo’ak, Jack Champion as Miles Socorro, Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch, Cliff Curtis as Tonowari, Michelle Yeoh as Dr. Karina Mague, and Kate Winslet as Ronal.
The “Avatar” franchise has achieved remarkable box office success, with “Avatar” and “avatar: The Way of Water” holding the positions of the first and third highest-grossing films worldwide, respectively, earning $2,923,706,026 and $2,320,250,281.
Fans can anticipate further installments, with the fourth “Avatar” film scheduled for release in 2029 and the fifth in 2031. James Cameron has also indicated the possibility of a sixth or even seventh film in the series.
