Austrian Divorce Lawyer on Love, Affairs & Separation | New Podcast Episode

Austria’s most prominent divorce lawyer, Dr. Helene Klaar, will appear on a new podcast episode this weekend, offering insights into the complexities of relationships, and separation. The episode, part of Nina Horowitz’s “Liebesg’schichten und Heiratssachen – Der Podcast,” will be available on ORF Sound and all major podcast platforms starting Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Klaar, often described in the Austrian media as the “most feared divorce lawyer in Austria,” a label she reportedly welcomes, will discuss her perspective on love, infidelity, and the legal aspects of dissolving relationships. According to a press release, she will share anecdotes and observations from her extensive career, including a story about a case where a lover reportedly escaped through a window.

The podcast episode will also explore how the ease of digital communication has impacted infidelity and divorce proceedings. Klaar noted, “They have ten minutes of sexual intercourse and then spend an hour discussing it on their mobile phones – that’s serious competition for detectives.”

Horowitz and Klaar reportedly found common ground in their professions, with Klaar stating, “What certainly connects our professions is that we both have to have sympathy for people. A misanthrope cannot bring lovers together, nor can they separate non-lovers in a decent manner.” Klaar, who has been instrumental in advancing equality in family and divorce law, also emphasized her positive relationships with men, pointing to her upbringing as a father-daughter duo, her harmonious partnership with her law firm colleague, and her long and happy marriage.

Despite a generally contented marriage, Klaar jokingly admitted to a minor domestic dispute with her husband: his habit of leaving lights on. “But I prefer to switch on the lights everywhere and enjoy my husband’s company than to have it dark everywhere and him not being there at all,” she said.

The podcast series, which is planned to run for eight episodes, will continue with psychiatrist and narcissism expert Pablo Hagemeyer on March 10th. Subsequent guests include cabaret artist and actor Thomas Stipsits (March 17th), former ski racer and ORF ski expert Thomas Sykora (March 24th), psychologist and couples therapist Gerti Senger (March 31st), and Olympic sailing champion Lara Vadlau (April 7th).

Horowitz and her team are simultaneously working on a 30th-anniversary season of the TV portrait series “Liebesg’schichten und Heiratssachen,” and are currently accepting applications from singles across Austria via email at liebesgschichten@orf.at, by mail to ORF, Kennwort „Liebesg’schichten“, Hugo-Portisch-Gasse 1, 1136 Wien, or by phone at 0800 44 30 140.

A video recording of the podcast episode with Helene Klaar will air on ORF 1 and ORF ON on Tuesday, March 3, at 11:25 PM.
