Austria is poised for a robust winter tourism season, according to new research‍ from Österreich Werbung. A study of 10,000 individuals across ten key European markets – Austria, Germany, ‌Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, the ⁤United Kingdom, France, Poland, and the czech Republic – indicates approximately 16.5 million Europeans are planning a winter holiday in the country. Globally, the expected number of visitors reaches 20.8 million, representing a 0.9% increase year-over-year.

the study reveals Austria’s strong reputation as a winter destination, wiht 40% of respondents ranking it above France and italy. This preference⁣ is holding ‌firm despite ongoing economic uncertainty and inflation, as a majority of those surveyed intend to book a winter holiday. Notably, interest is growing specifically from travelers in Germany,Switzerland, the ⁣Czech Republic, and Great Britain.

Beyond ⁣a single trip, Austria‌ is increasingly viewed‌ as a year-round destination. A significant 86% of winter visitors also return during other seasons, providing a stable base for‌ the tourism industry and ⁢supporting growth in summer, spring,⁣ and autumn travel.

A positive indicator for the Austrian economy is the limited desire to cut back on ‍spending. Only 12% of respondents expressed plans to reduce their holiday expenditure. Moreover, 40% believe Austria ‍offers the best value for money compared to competing destinations ‍like France and Italy.

While the outlook is positive, Austrian tourism companies are preparing for potential ⁤economic challenges and market fluctuations. The government is providing support ‌through initiatives like the new seasonal ‌regulation, aimed at ensuring employment ‌stability and ⁢facilitating long-term business planning within the sector.
