Jess Hull Advances to ⁣800m Semifinals After World Championships Heat ⁢Fall

Budapest, Hungary – Australian runner Jess Hull will compete in the semifinals of the women’s 800m at‌ the World Athletics Championships ⁣after ⁣successfully appealing a decision following a fall during‍ her heat on Tuesday. Hull finished her heat in 2:13.42, the slowest of the 55 finishers across seven heats, but was granted progression by the referee. She will be joined in the semifinals by fellow Australians ⁢Claudia Hollingsworth and Abbey ‍Caldwell.

Hull was impeded during the ‍race, suffering a small gash on her right leg from her‍ spikes. Despite the incident, she continued to finish the race, while another competitor, Sekgodiso, was forced to withdraw due to a hamstring injury after dropping ‌off the⁢ pace in the second ⁣lap.

“It’s racing, but there’s nothing different I could’ve done,” ‌Hull said after the race. “I was taken out from behind so I think personally I haven’t done anything wrong. It’s not the fault of the pack either, ⁣that is racing, but I didn’t get a chance to even run myself through.”

The women’s 800m semifinals are scheduled for tonight, with Hollingsworth running at 9:43pm AEST, Hull at 9:52pm, and Caldwell at 10:01pm.
