Athaya Thitikulporok Misses Amun Diyung Championship in Playoff

Athaya Thitikulporok, a Thai golfer, narrowly missed out on winning the amun Diyung Championship last night, July 13. She was defeated in a playoff by Grace Kim of Australia. After finishing the final round with identical scores, Kim secured her first major championship title.
The final round in France was fiercely contested, especially among the leading groups. Lotty Lotty, an amateur from Britain, held a share of the lead at 13-under-par 271 and waited in the clubhouse as the final groups played out.
Thitikulporok, known as “Gino,” was in contention throughout the round. She had a strong showing, making three birdies and no bogeys thru 16 holes. A further birdie on the 17th hole put her atop the leaderboard with a score of 14-under-par 270. however, a slight misstep on the final hole led to a tie.
Kim’s performance included one eagle, four birdies, two bogeys, and one double bogey through 16 holes. A crucial eagle on the 18th hole brought her score level with Thitikulporok, forcing a playoff. The playoff began on the 18th hole, a par-5. Thitikulporok initially had an advantage off the tee, but Kim recovered remarkably after her ball went into the water. Despite a penalty, Kim chipped skillfully, making an impressive save.
The second playoff hole, also the 18th, saw Kim again hit a superior approach shot, leaving her 20 feet from the pin.She made her birdie putt, while Thitikulporok’s attempt for birdie missed, resulting in a par. This outcome secured Kim her maiden major championship victory.
