Islamabad, Pakistan – An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has declared 30 workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as proclaimed offenders in connection with riots that occurred on November 26th, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.
The court initiated proceedings to declare 31 PTI workers as absconders during a previous hearing. However, the process was halted for one individual after they appeared before the court on Tuesday. The case, registered by the Khanna police station, was subsequently adjourned until April 2nd.
Alongside the Khanna police station case, the ATC similarly postponed hearings related to other police stations. The Margalla police station case is now scheduled for April 4th, the Kohsar police station case for March 26th, and cases filed by the Tarnol and Aabpara police stations will be heard on March 10th.
The delays in proceedings are attributed to the unavailability of police records, preventing the recording of testimonies in any of the cases. PTI workers are facing charges under sections related to terrorism, vandalism, and other offenses, according to reports from The Express Tribune.
Separately, non-bailable arrest warrants were issued again for the sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, as reported by Ommcom News. This development occurs amidst a broader crackdown on PTI leaders and supporters, with multiple warrants and summonses being issued in recent weeks, as detailed by The Express Tribune.
The court also adjourned cases involving the PTI founder and other workers, as reported by Daily Times, without specifying a reason for the adjournment beyond the lack of available police records.
