Aspen High Volleyball Earns No. 11 Seed and Hosts Regionals

Aspen High Volleyball Earns No. 11 Seed and Hosts Regionals

November 3, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

The Aspen High School volleyball team earned the No. 11 seed in Class 3A and will host regional play this Saturday, Nov. 7, inside the AHS gymnasium, aspentimes.com reported.

Hosting duties and regional opponents

For the second season, the Skiers enter the postseason with home-court advantage. Aspen enters the round-robin tournament with a 20-2 overall record. The team will face No. 14 Jefferson Academy, which holds a 19-4 record, and No. 26 Weld Central, which stands at 10-13. First serve for the opening match between Aspen and Weld Central is scheduled for 10 a.m. Only the top team from the regional tournament advances to the 12-team state tournament.

Building on a historic league run

The Skiers are in the midst of what may be the best two-year stretch in program history, going a perfect 14-0 in Western Slope League play this fall. The team’s only two losses of the regular season came against Battle Mountain during a Sept. 12 tournament—a defeat Aspen avenged later that same day—and against Eaton on Oct. 12. Last season, Aspen finished 20-7 overall and 8-1 in league play, earning the No. 11 seed before defeating KIPP Denver Collegiate and The Vanguard School to capture a regional title.

Regional trends

Other Western Slope teams also learned their postseason destinations. Coal Ridge earned the No. 21 seed at 14-9 and will travel to play at No. 4 The Classical Academy alongside No. 33 DSST: Conservatory Green. Basalt at 8-14 and Roaring Fork at 4-18 missed the regional cut, concluding their seasons. In the 4A classification, Glenwood Springs secured the No. 17 seed with a 17-6 record and will travel to face No. 8 Timnath along with No. 29 Fort Morgan. Meanwhile, Eaton enters the 3A regionals as the No. 8 seed and the reigning state champion, having defeated Alamosa in the 2025 final. University claims the No. 1 overall seed in 3A for the tournament.
