Badminton legends Ashwini Ponnappa and Arjun Reddy were hosted at the FunAsia office in Dallas, Texas, on Tuesday, according to a post shared by FunAsiA Radio on Facebook and Instagram. The visit included officials and coaches from the DFW Badminton Center.
The engagement provided an opportunity for conversation centered on “passion, discipline, and dedication,” according to FunAsiA Radio’s social media statement. The radio station described the visit as an “honor and absolute pleasure.”
Ponnappa, born September 18, 1989, is a prominent figure in Indian badminton, competing in both women’s and mixed doubles. She achieved a career-high ranking of 10th in the world in women’s doubles with Jwala Gutta in 2015, and 19th in mixed doubles with Satwiksairaj Rankireddy in 2021, according to her Wikipedia profile.
Ponnappa has a decorated career, including a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, as well as bronze medals at the Uber Cup (2011, 2014, 2016) and the Asian Badminton Championships (2014). She as well secured medals at the South Asian Games in 2010 and 2016. She was part of the Indian team that won a silver medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
The DFW Badminton Center, which participated in the event, recently hosted a welcome for Ponnappa and Reddy, as highlighted in an Instagram post from February 20, 2026. The post identified Ponnappa as a three-time Olympian.
