Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres may face increased competition for his place in the starting lineup following reports the club is “seriously considering” a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele, according to sources.
The potential arrival of the 28-year-aged Dembele, the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner, could significantly alter Arsenal’s attacking options, particularly as he is capable of playing both as a centre-forward and a right-winger. Dembele has scored 11 goals and provided seven assists in 24 appearances for PSG this season, following a 2024/25 campaign where he netted 35 times and registered 16 assists in 53 games.
While Arsenal signed Gyokeres from Sporting CP in the summer of 2025, the Sweden international has had a mixed start to his career in North London. In 34 appearances across all competitions this season, Gyokeres has scored 13 goals and provided two assists. His Premier League record stands at eight goals in 24 matches.
The potential for Dembele to operate as a centre-forward is particularly noteworthy, given Bukayo Saka’s established position as Arsenal’s first-choice right-winger. This suggests that, should he join, Dembele would directly compete with Gyokeres for a central role in Mikel Arteta’s attack.
Reports from Fichajes, a Spanish media outlet, indicate that Arsenal manager Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are evaluating Dembele, believing his “pedigree would raise the competitive level” of the squad. PSG manager Luis Enrique recently described Dembele as “a unique player with the ball” and “truly special.”
Dembele’s contract with PSG is set to expire in the summer of 2028, potentially making him available for transfer in the summer of 2026. Arsenal are also reportedly monitoring other attacking options, including Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, and are engaged in discussions with captain Martin Odegaard regarding his future at the club.
