The outage originated from a fire at a substation on Werderstrasse in Alt-Saarbrücken, according to Stadtwerke Saarbrücken. firefighters responded to the scene,and utility crews are working to restore power,though the duration of the failure remains unknown. The Winterberg clinic is operating on emergency generator power, while traffic signals throughout the urban area were reported to be non-functional. Retailers experienced varied impacts, wiht Karstadt department store completely without power and C&A continuing operations. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
