A tense situation unfolded in Toxteth, Liverpool, as armed police swarmed Elaine Street after a report of a woman brandishing what was believed to be a handgun. A 48-year-old woman now faces questioning, highlighting community concerns about gun violence.

Merseyside Police responded to a disturbance on Elaine Street in Toxteth around 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 19th. Reports indicated a woman had threatened another with what appeared to be a firearm. Officers detained a woman at a nearby address, subsequently recovering an imitation weapon.

A witness described a large police presence. One resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that they returned home to find numerous armed police present, equipped with large firearms. The witness was instructed to reverse their vehicle. They also mentioned seeing a gun in a bag and a helicopter circling overhead.

“Although the victim was not harmed she very shaken by the incident, and this type of behaviour is totally unacceptable.”
