Arizona Women’s Golf: Round 1 Results from Darius Rucker Invitational

The University of Arizona women’s golf team concluded the first round of the Darius Rucker Invitational tied for 12th place among a competitive field, posting a team score of 16-over par in challenging windy conditions. The invitational is being held at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Leading the Wildcats was Charlotte Back, who delivered a steady performance with an even-par 71. Back’s round consisted of 35 strokes on the front nine and 36 on the back, positioning her within the top ten of the individual leaderboard.

Nena Wongthanavimok followed with a 4-over par 75, highlighted by a strong back nine where she carded a 34. Julia Misemer contributed a 5-over par 76, while freshman Kinsley Ni recorded a 78 (+7) in her collegiate debut at the event. Sara Vitasek completed the Arizona lineup with an 80 (+9).

The Wildcats will resume play tomorrow at 9:10 am MST, aiming to improve their position on the leaderboard as the tournament progresses.

Arizona’s participation in the Darius Rucker Invitational follows recent performances at other tournaments, including a strong showing at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic where the team finished inside the top five after the first day, according to University of Arizona Athletics reports. The team likewise recently dominated both matches on day one of the NB3 Matchplay event.
