Actress Ariane Brodier Injured in Dog Attack, Advocates for Leash Laws
A trail runner and mother of two, actress ariane Brodier was attacked by a lose dog-a Beauceron cross husky-during a run near her home on Thursday, November 20, leaving her injured and prompting a public plea for responsible pet ownership. Brodier sustained wounds to her hand and leg requiring antibiotics and regular nurse visits for wound care due to bacterial concerns.
The incident has ignited Brodier’s advocacy for mandatory leash laws, particularly in natural areas. While shaken by the attack, she emphasizes the potential for far more serious harm, stating, “I’m almost 1m80, it’s not with my hand that they would have caught me, but it’s with my children’s face.” The actress filed a complaint with the gendarmerie following the attack, hoping to prevent similar incidents.
Brodier recounted that the dog “charged” her while she was running, leaving her shocked and injured. The dog’s owner reportedly informed her the animal had “problems” stemming from past abuse, a justification Brodier found unconvincing, responding, ”a dog like that, the more you take him on a leash.”
As a dog owner herself-she owns a dog named Nuggets who is always leashed or contained within her garden-Brodier stressed the unpredictable nature of canine behavior. “We don’t know how a dog might react: a runner passes by, he throws a stone at him, he gets angry… We don’t know,” she explained.
Despite her injuries, Brodier remains optimistic about her recovery and is focusing on spending time with her own dog to avoid developing a fear of animals. She hopes sharing her experience will raise awareness and encourage dog owners to prioritize public safety by adhering to leash laws.
