Ariana Grande was briefly approached by a fan who breached security at the Singapore premiere of “Wicked: For Good” on Thursday night, prompting co-star Cynthia Erivo to intervene. Videos circulating online show a man jumping over a barricade and making contact with grande on the yellow brick carpet before Erivo physically moved him away.
The incident occurred as Grande was posing with Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and director Jon M. Chu. Security quickly apprehended the individual, identified as Johnson wen, whose Instagram handle is “Pyjama Man.” Erivo and Yeoh were then seen comforting Grande while fans expressed concern for her well-being.
Wen,who describes himself as a “troll” on social media, posted a video of the incident with the caption,”Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You.” He has a history of attempting to disrupt events, including concerts by Katy Perry and The Weeknd, and reportedly targeted the Paris Olympics in summer 2024.
The premiere is part of a global promotional tour for “Wicked: For Good,” which is set to release in theaters on November 21. Grande recently missed the film’s premiere in Brazil due to an aircraft safety issue that grounded her flight, expressing her disappointment to fans on Instagram. “I am so heartbroken that I’m unable to be there with you all,” she wrote, urging fans to support her castmates.
