Water Havoc: TV Star’s Kitchen Submerged by Upstairs Flood
“Interior dreams” as celebrity forced to demolish parts of home
TV personality Arantxa Álvarez is facing a homeowner’s nightmare after her kitchen was completely inundated with water, not from the skies, but from the apartment above.
Sudden Deluge
The incident unfolded early Sunday morning. At approximately 5 AM, Álvarez discovered a significant water leak flooding her kitchen. The water cascaded from the ceiling, permeating kitchen cabinets and overflowing onto countertops and the floor.
At 05 the fan will be turned off in the bedroom and when I examine the electrical cabinet I am met by this cozy in the kitchen.

Confirming the source of the disaster, Álvarez shared updates on TikTok. Firefighters and police were called to the scene, identifying the cause as a leak originating from the unit situated directly above hers.
Devastation and Demolition
In a series of TikTok videos showcasing the chaos, Álvarez documented the extensive damage. Clips show water pouring from the ceiling and through cabinets, leaving the kitchen floor saturated.
The situation has necessitated drastic measures. “Interior dreams,” Álvarez quipped ironically on social media, accompanied by skull emojis.
“Turns out, after firefighters plus police have been here that there is water from the apartment from above, flows down from the ceiling, along the wall and on the floor.”

Emergency services were seen drilling holes into the kitchen wall to install pipes to drain the accumulated water. The extent of the damage means significant reconstruction is inevitable. Authorities have informed Álvarez that the roof is slated for demolition later this week. The damage may also extend to the walls and flooring, requiring their removal as well.
Water damage restoration is a significant industry. In 2023, the global water damage restoration market size was valued at USD 60.5 billion, underscoring the commonality of such issues, though rarely on this scale for a single individual (Grand View Research 2023).
