Apple Cuts 200+ Jobs in Siri and Vision Pro Teams to Pivot Toward AI
Apple Inc. has eliminated more than 200 jobs across its Vision Pro, Siri, and software engineering divisions as part of a broader corporate realignment toward artificial intelligence and new hardware development, according to Bloomberg News. The reductions include approximately 100 roles stripped from the Vision Pro headset division and another 100 positions from Siri and software teams, alongside cuts to the Intelligent Systems Experience group.
Vision Pro Restructuring and Headset Strategy
The Vision Pro adjustments involve scaling back dedicated entertainment infrastructure for the mixed-reality device. According to Bloomberg, Apple is largely shutting down a team focused on gaming for the headset and reducing the size of a unit tasked with producing immersive video content. The company communicated to employees that the Vision Pro and its visionOS operating system will remain active, though resources are shifting toward alternate hardware projects.
In the near term, Apple is prioritizing the development of smart glasses that omit immersive video and advanced gaming features. Meanwhile, earlier reporting from Bloomberg indicates the company continues to evaluate a subsequent model of the Vision Pro targeted for release as early as the end of 2028. The original device launched in February 2024 at a starting price of $3,699.
Siri Architecture and AI Reorganization
The reductions within the Siri and software groups accompany a technical overhaul of the voice assistant. According to Bloomberg’s reporting, the cuts stem from a transition toward an upcoming AI-powered version of Siri built on a newly designed technical architecture. This operational pivot requires distinct engineering expertise, prompting the company to dissolve certain legacy roles while establishing new positions dedicated to the updated platform.
Parallel changes touched the Intelligent Systems Experience group, an internal software engineering unit responsible for managing select device-level artificial intelligence features. As multiple departments begin designing AI functions for native applications and services, Apple is restructuring these teams to harmonize priorities and shorten development timelines.
Corporate Realignment and Employee Transition
Apple formally acknowledged the personnel changes through a prepared statement provided to Bloomberg. The company stated that the adjustments were executed to evolve the business and deliver optimized user experiences.

“While we will create new roles as part of this change, it will also impact a limited number of existing roles,” Apple said in the statement. “We are grateful to these team members for their contributions, and we are committed to supporting them throughout their transition, including opportunities to apply for other roles at Apple.”
