by Rachel Kim – Technology Editor

Bulgaria App Store Currency Change too Euro

On January 1, 2026, bulgaria will officially adopt the euro (EUR), replacing the Bulgarian lev (BGN). This change will impact⁣ App Store commerce within Bulgaria, with all purchases adn subscriptions transitioning from BGN to EUR on that⁣ date. Your revenue from Bulgarian sales will also be reported in euros moving forward.

Your App Store Connect bank account settings‌ will be automatically updated on December⁣ 1, 2025, if currently set to receive payments in lev. If you’ve designated a different currency‌ for your ‌bank‌ account, payments will continue to‍ be issued in that currency. The official conversion rate, established by the Council of the European Union on July 8, 2025, is⁢ 1.95583 BGN ‌= 1 EUR.

Hear’s how this change will affect your pricing:

* Apps & In-App ‍Purchases with Bulgaria as ‍a Primary Market: Prices on the Bulgarian app Store will be converted to euros based on the official conversion rate, rounded down to the nearest supported ⁢euro price point. If ‍you’ve selected Bulgaria as your base storefront, pricing‍ in other regions might potentially be adjusted to maintain price⁢ parity with‍ the new euro price.
* All other ⁣Apps & In-App Purchases: Prices on the Bulgarian App Store will be converted to euros using standard equalization practices for euro markets ‌subject to Value Added ‌Tax ⁢(VAT).

You retain full control over your pricing and can adjust app, In-App Purchase, and⁤ subscription ⁤costs at⁣ any time.

Existing ‍auto-renewing subscriptions will continue uninterrupted. Subscription pricing will be automatically updated to⁣ reflect euro amounts for all current, existing, and future scheduled price⁢ tiers. Customers with⁤ active subscriptions will receive an email notification regarding this currency ⁣change.

Please note that, in accordance with the Euro Act, ‍you are required to display both lev and euro prices for In-App Purchases within your app throughout the transitional period, which extends until August 8, 2026. This ‍dual pricing should be ⁣visible wherever ⁢prices are shown to users.

Reporting will also ⁢be updated. Sales and Trends reports will display transactions in euros after ⁣the currency change. Monthly ⁢financial reports will ⁢differentiate between ‍pre-change earnings (reported in the BG report) and post-change earnings (reported in the⁢ EU report).

all refunds processed on or after January 1, 2026, will be‌ issued⁢ in euros, regardless of the original purchase date.
